Our campus address is Bishop Hall Lane, Chelmsford CM1 1SQ.

ARU College Chelmsford office address is Queens Building 102, Anglia Ruskin University, Bishop Hall Lane, CM1 1SQ

We’re committed to doing all we can to reduce the environmental impact of traffic travelling to our campus and promote the use of public transport wherever possible. ARU students can get discounts on the train and buses in Chelmsford.

There’s parking on campus for blue badge holders.

On foot

Our campus is about a ten-minute walk from the centre of Chelmsford with all of its shops and restaurants and landmarks like the impressive 15th-century Cathedral Church of St Mary, St Peter and St Cedd.

You’ll find maps at the bottom of this page.

Bicycle

We’ve got plenty of cycle parking and lots of cycle paths lead on and around the campus.

Bus

The bus station on Duke Street is a 15-minute walk from campus with local bus services run by First Group, and National Express coaches usually stopping there. If you’re travelling from Stansted Airport you can catch the regular X30 bus service to Chelmsford.

Train

We’re just a ten-minute walk from the station which is on the main London Liverpool Street to Norwich line. There are up to six trains an hour to London Liverpool Street which take about 35 minutes. Regular services also run to Stratford, Shenfield, Braintree, Witham, Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea. National Rail Enquiries is helpful for planning your journey.

If you’re travelling on Eurostar it will bring you to King’s Cross, you’ll need to make your way to Liverpool Street station where you can catch a train to Chelmsford.

By car

Chelmsford is no more than 15-minutes’ drive from the M25 which gives excellent access to the national road network. The A12 is ten minutes away and is a direct route into London. While there’s only parking on campus for blue badge holders there’re over 5,000 spaces in local car parks. Chelmsford Borough Council has more information about parking in the city.

Park & ride

Chelmsford has two Park and Ride sites with a regular bus service to and from the city.

Chelmer Valley Park and Ride: buses run straight through our campus. On Monday to Friday, buses run every ten minutes from 7am-5pm, then every 12 minutes until 7pm, then a reduced service with the last bus leaving campus at 9.13pm. Buses also run on Saturdays.

Sandon Park and Ride: buses stop on campus throughout the day except for short periods of time in the morning and early evening (7.33am-8.38am, and 4.11pm-5.52pm), when they stop in the city centre.

By sea

Harwich International port is served by Stena Line from the Hook of Holland and Cuxhaven Ferries from Germany. From Harwich, it’s about an hour to Chelmsford by car. You can also travel by train which takes just over an hour; you may need to change.
