Anglia Ruskin University’s Sport Science degrees are consistently high ranking, and this year have placed 5th in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2026. The ranking focuses on areas such as the quality of teaching, student continuation, and graduate career prospects. ARU scored 92.5% for the quality of teaching, based on feedback from final year students in the National Student Survey. In addition to this, 86% of graduates have either found graduate level jobs or engaged in further study within 15 months of graduating (Guardian University Guide 2026).
Denise Sparrow’s journey with ARU has come full circle. She first joined the university in the early 1990s as a Legal Practice Administrator in the Law Department. Working closely with law students reignited her passion for learning, and so she began studying part-time for a BA (Hons) in Business and European Studies in 1994. Years later, Denise has returned to ARU College to teach and support our students. We asked her to share a little about herself and why she loves teaching at ARU!
Since joining ARU, Shivali has already been recognised for her dedication and academic success, receiving a prestigious Dean’s Award. In this interview, she shares her experience of studying Business with Marketing, what she enjoys most about the course, and how studying in Cambridge has shaped her journey as an international student.
