Chelmsford awarded purple flag accreditation for nightlife for 11th year in a row
Thinking of joining us at ARU Chelmsford and wondering what the city has to offer? We’re pleased to reveal that Chelmsford has been recognised for its ‘outstanding’ nightlife.
Purple Flag aims to both raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 5pm and 5am. And, for the 11th year in a row, Chelmsford has been indorsed with a purple flag accreditation for its fantastic evening and nightlife.
Chelmsford was found to have a high coordination of services and ‘above standard’ in all five of the purple flag categories.
It was assessed in categories such as:
- Visitor experience
- Safety and services
- Transport and movement
- Range of venues and activities available
- Overall appeal as a stimulation destination
The city was recognised as being safe and welcoming and the panel also noted the collaboration on projects such as ‘Chelmsford’s Women’s Safety Charter’ that was launched in 2022.
Furthermore, the refurbishment of the Chelmsford Theatre was praised and the city was commended for its great mixture of chain and independent restaurants and establishments.
