ARU listed in the top 350 universities in the world and top 40 in the UK

For the seventh year in a row, Anglia Ruskin University has been listed in the top 350 universities in the world, and top 40 in the UK by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. ARU has been particularly praised for its ‘international outlook’ and 'Citations/ Researcher Influence'.

THE (Times Higher Education) has been providing trusted performance data on universities since 2004. Universities are ranked in 5 categories: Teaching, Research, Citations (research influence), Industry Income and International Outlook

ARU has been ranked in the 301-350 bracket of almost 1,800 higher education institutions across the globe, and joint 39th of the 103 ranked UK universities.

 

ARU Commended for its International Outlook

ARU has been particularly praised for its ‘international outlook’ which is no surprise as 46% of students at ARU are international students.

Universities are now attracting students and researchers from across the globe and according to Times Higher Education international outlook is the “mark of a top institution”.

International outlook is measured by a university’s international to domestic student ratio, international to domestic staff ratio, and the proportion of research that involves international collaboration.

“The benefits of an international environment on campus range from cultivating open-minded discussions with diverse opinions to improving cross-cultural relations.” (Times Higher Education)

 

Citations/ Researcher Influence

ARU was also highly ranked for its citations (researcher influence). According to Times Higher Education, this reflects how much “an institution contributes to the worldwide project for collective and collaborative understanding of the world. This contribution is a both a measure of quality at a university, and a source of pride for both academics and students.”
